History of LED

In 1990, in America, a lab technician working late at the Hewlett Packard company noticed a faint glow coming from his desk when he turned off the lights to go home. On investigation he found the glow was coming from an electrical component he had been working on called a diode. Thus is the origin of LED or Light Emitting Diodes.

LED’s have completely transformed lighting and by 2030 all lights in the world will be LED. LED’s are up to ten times more efficient than existing light sources and since  20% of the world’s electricity is consumed by light bulbs this means a huge reduction in world wide electricity consumption.

Here in South Africa LED’s are available to replace all existing lighting and are now so cheap pay back periods are often less than one year. Whatever types of lights you have contact FixLIGHT for a free assessment of the benefits of swapping to LED so saving money, electricity and help fight global warming.
