History

NOVA was established in 1986 when it became clear that an independent lighting company was required to service the lighting maintenance needs of national retailers in South Africa on a consistent basis. As an essential service lighting is to be properly and consistently maintained to attract and retain customers in the competitive retail industry. Not only are illumination levels important, so is colour consistency, safety and energy efficiency.

In 2008 we were approached by ESKOM to assist with the group replacement of old lighting technology to help alleviate the electricity shortages in the Western Cape, which was then expanded throughout South Africa. NOVA became an official ESKOM Demand Side Management Vendor going on to complete the largest national group replacement projects of the time, which included the likes of Shoprite Holdings, EDCON, Old Mutual and many other national groups.
